US and EU pause Johnson & Johnson vaccine rollout over clotting concerns

The United States, European Union, and South Africa have paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after reports of rare blood clotting cases.

US regulators say six cases in 6.8 million doses have been reported and all cases involved women between the ages of 18 and 48 with symptoms occurring six to 13 days after vaccination.

Authorities are calling for an immediate pause on the single dose formula and America’s Chief Medical Advisor Dr Anthony Fauci says the pause is a cautious approach.
