Both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are continuing to warm up as they wait to walk onto the Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the national anthem is currently being sung.
Sinner’s trainer is putting him through his paces with a resistant band while Alcaraz is going through a stretching routine as he listens to music.
Both men arrived on site early this morning and an unexpected delay like this is the last thing they would have wanted.
Tennis players are used to waiting of course, and it’s unusual for them to know the exact start time of their matches. But the difference here is they had to arrive at Flushing Meadows so early because of the enhanced security checks in place.
