USA wins first gold, results, medal count

The first medals of the 2024 Paris Olympics were handed out Saturday, with the United States earning five – including gold in the 4×100 men’s freestyle swimming relay.

Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong and Caeleb Dressel combined to win the race, while the U.S. women got silver in the 4×100. American Olympic legend Katie Ledecky won bronze in 400m freestyle, Chloe Dygert took bronze in women’s time trial cycling and Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook won silver in diving.
