Uzbekistan Deputy PM Sardor Umurzakov arrives in Islamabad | The Express Tribune

Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umurzakov on Thursday arrived in Islamabad on an official visit.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood received him at the Nur Khan Airbase. While addressing the media, the adviser said Pakistan hopes to strengthen its relations with Central Asian states in diverse fields.

He was confident that the deputy prime minister’s visit will help enhance trade relations between the two countries.

During his visit, Umurzakov will hold talks with Pakistani leadership to further promote ties in different fields, including investment and trade.

Earlier, on August 20, the adviser said trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan would be strengthened through institutional mechanisms and private sector joint ventures.

During a meeting with Uzbekistan Charge d’affaires Sadullah Tashmatov, Dawood emphasised the significance of developing connectivity for harnessing and deepening the bilateral relationship. “Pakistan is keen to develop backward and forward linkages in textile, pharmaceutical, leather and agriculture sectors with Uzbekistan,” he added.

Earlier in May 2020, the adviser invited the deputy prime minister to visit Pakistan along with a delegation to deliberate on bilateral economic relations.
