Violent thug cracks bouncer’s skull with baseball bat after vile behaviour

A violent thug cracked a bouncer’s skull with a baseball bat after he was told to stop harassing women in McDonald’s. Braulio Joaquim Lemos was asked to leave the Nottingham restaurant by the door supervisor after he was observed harassing female staff and customers by asking for their numbers in the early hours of a Friday morning.

The 33-year-old responded by punching him to the face during a scuffle at around 4am on September 22, 2023, before walking home and getting changed into a tracksuit with a hood. Joaquim Lemos returned to Clumber Street at 5.18am armed with a baseball bat to inflict a heinous attack described by the judge as “unnecessary, unlawful and in revenge”.

Joaquim Lemos hid behind a parked van before charging at the staff member from across the street and striking him to the side of his head before fleeing with the weapon.

The victim was taken to hospital where it was later discovered he had suffered a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage. Police said the head injury still impacts him three years on and the man “has no way of living a normal life with his family”.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Joaquim Lemos had ample opportunity to calm down and take a step back after the initial altercation with door staff.

“However, he chose instead to arm himself with a weapon and seek revenge by attacking the victim with such force that he fractured the man’s skull.”

She continued: “Such violence has no place in our nighttime economy and anyone responsible for assaults of this nature can expect a robust response from the force and ultimately a spell behind bars.”

Joaquim Lemos was arrested following an investigation by detectives, and he eventually pleaded guilty to committing grievous bodily harm with intent on the day he was due to stand trial.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, July 24, Joaquim Lemos, of Northumberland Close, Nottingham, was sentenced to nine years in jail by Judge Stuart Rafferty.
