Wahab Riaz, in an exclusive conversation with Cricket Pakistan, expressed his opinion on Naseem’s performance for Pakistan.
He acknowledged Naseem’s commendable efforts in several matches, but noted that the young player has yet to fully show his true potential.
“Naseem has bowled well in many matches. However, I feel he has not played up to his ability yet. He should win matches for Pakistan considering his ability,” Wahab said.
Wahab also spoke about the dynamics of Pakistan’s bowling attack ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi is handy with the new ball, and then Haris Rauf takes over. They are bowling specialists during death overs. In the World Cup, Afridi’s ten overs will be of great importance. The team will need wickets of him between 25 and 35 overs,” he said.
Shifting the focus to Pakistan’s batting strategy in One Day Internationals (ODIs), Wahab emphasized the importance of top-tier batsmen including Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam.
“In ODIs, Pakistan is heavily reliant on its top-order trio of Imam, Fakhar and Babar. However, Pakistan continues to grapple with issues related to its mid-order lineup,” he concluded.
