WATCH: Bajrang Punia Accuses Delhi Police Of Cutting Power At Jantar Mantar, Fighters Asked To End Protest Following 2 FIRs Filed Against WFI Chief

In an Instagram video, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia accused Delhi police of cutting off electricity and rationing at the wrestlers’ protest in Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

Speaking to his supporters, Punia claimed that the Delhi Police cut off the electricity, blocked the protest site and did not allow food or water and called on the wrestlers to end their protest after the Delhi Police registered two FIRs against the Chairman of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been charged with sexual harassment and criminal intimidation by seven wrestlers.

“I spoke to the ACP, they told me: ‘Do what you can, we won’t let water or food in,’” Bajrang said. “You can see the pressure that is being put on us. When the whole country supports us, this is what the police are doing.”

The complaints come minutes after it was confirmed that the Delhi The police have filed two FIR TREEit is against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The first FIR refers to complaints made by a minor victim, registered under the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012) together with the relevant sections of the IPC on indecent outrages. Meanwhile, the second FIR has been registered to investigate complaints made by other wrestlers, who are adult complainants in the relevant sections related to indecent outrages.

Earlier in the day, at a Jantar Mantar press conference, protesting fighters Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik had revealed that they would continue their protests until the WFI chief was arrested.

“This is our first step towards victory, but the protests will continue,” said Sakshi Malik.

“This fight is not just about presenting an FIR. This fight is about getting justice, punishing him, sending him behind bars and removing him from all the positions he holds,” added Vinesh Phogat.

“There is a whole list of FIRs against him,” Bajrang Punia had said, pointing to the life-size poster of the various cases against Brijbhushan hanging at the protest site. “He has many cases against him, but he is on the loose. Until I’m behind bars, this protest will continue.”
