BYRON CENTER, Mich. — Vice Presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R – Ohio) made a campaign stop in Byron Center Wednesday afternoon.
It’s the candidate’s third visit to the Great Lakes State, and comes three weeks after his most recent visit to Grand Rapids with running mate Donald Trump.
A large crowd of supporters gathered at the outdoor rally located at Cordes Inc. a family owned trucking company.
Patty Williams a Byron Center resident is thrilled Vance chose her hometown to speak at.
“I am really proud of him and what he has accomplished in his life, I am all about JD Vance,” Williams said.
Vance used his time behind the podium to take jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris calling her campaign “fake”.
Vance also centered his speech around border policies Harris has supported; that includes catch and release, claiming the policies have directly put the American people in danger.
“She let in millions of illegal aliens; it make our communities less safe,” Vance said. “Kamala Harris turned border patrol into a travel agency for violent criminals and free loaders and free loaders from around the world.”
Vance also blamed the vice president for problems in the housing market, adding Harris is the culprit for the country’s grocery affordability crisis. Vance said inflation has soared 21% under the Biden/Harris administration.
“She says she is having fun and while she is having fun, Americans are suffering under her policies. Remember, when she laughs during a speech, there are American families that cry this very day because they cannot afford groceries,” Vance said.
Under former President Trump’s leadership, Vance claims America had the strongest economy and that seven million jobs were created. Vance also said the unemployment rate was at the lowest in 50 years when Trump was in office.
“Donald J. Trump’s campaign offers something very different, not a fake optimism but a very real hope,” Vance said.
“Here’s the thing, on November 5th, this great betrayal from Kamala Harris, it is going to stop because we are going to elect Donald Trump president of the United States,” Vance said.
Vance said one of the biggest things that sets him and Former President Trump apart from the Harris Campaign is they are willing to answer questions from the media at rallies.
On the other side of the aisle, Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D – Minnesota) recently held his first solo events as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.
Tuesday, Walz spoke at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Convention in Los Angeles before heading a campaign fundraiser in Newport Beach, California, according to the Associated Press.
He is expected to address fundraisers in Denver, Colorado and Boston, Massachusetts Wednesday, followed by Newport, Rhode Island and Southampton, New York on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
