Barcelona star Raphinha scored an amazing and crucial goal for Brazil in their Copa America 2024 group stage finale against Colombia at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Tuesday evening in the United States, which guaranteed the Seleção the last available spot in the knockout rounds ahead of Costa Rica in Group D.
The Barça winger gave Brazil the early lead with a brilliant free-kick in the 12th minute. Check it out:
Raphinha lost his place in the starting XI in Brazil’s second game against Paraguay but was picked ahead of Girona’s Savinho for the clash with Colombia in a somewhat surprising move after his poor performance in the opener, but the Barça man certainly repaid the faith of Brazil manager Dorival Júnior.
Raphinha’s goal was not enough to help Brazil’s cause, however, as the Canarinho needed a victory over Colombia to finish the first phase as Group D winners to avoid a quarter-final clash with favorites Uruguay, but Daniel Muñoz scored an equalizer just before halftime to keep Colombia in first place and put the Brazilians in a collision course with Ronald Araujo’s Celeste in this weekend’s Last Eight.
