WATCH: Touching gesture sums up Hansi Flick’s fondness for Barcelona star Gavi

Barcelona midfielder Gavi and new boss Hansi Flick seem to have formed a very close relationship already despite the German having only been at the club for a matter of months.

Flick has been unable to call up Gavi until now because of his knee injury but admitted he had “goosebumps” when the youngster did finally make his long-awaited comeback.

Gavi and Flick are now preparing to face Espanyol on the weekend, with the boss having been spotted trying to help out his young star on the training ground.

The midfielder is known for never tying his bootlaces, something Flick has noticed and was even willing to correct – until Gavi decided to do them himself.

Gavi has already spoken about how the two communicate despite the current language barriers.

”We understand each other because he speaks easy English. I speak a little and the truth is that when he speaks I understand him,” he said.

“I answer him in Spanish, but he understands me too. He asked me how my injury was and that I should take it easy, that the team would be waiting for me.”

Flick’s attention to detail has been hailed by Lothar Mathaus this week – perhaps explaining why he really wants Gavi’s laces tied – while many other Barcelona players have spoken out already about how the boss is close to his players. His approach certainly seems to be paying off handsomely so far.
