‘We are facing slavery’: PoK activists demand exit from Pakistan in protest at UNHCR

Activists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have called for the Pakistani government to leave the region. Geneva: Activists from the Pakistan-occupied zone cashmere (PoK) have called for the Pakistani government to leave the region. Sharing that they have been living as slaves, activists of the United Kashmir People’s National Party held a protest in front of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

Speaking to the media, UKPNP spokesperson Nasir Aziz Khan stated that people in PoK have been protesting for the last six months against the rise of terrorism and inflation.

“The United Kashmir People’s National Party has organized this protest in front of the United Nations at the 54th session of the UNHRC to highlight the problem we face in PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan. People are on the streets against the high officials in electricity bills, inflation, terrorism,” Khan told ANI.

The UKPNP activists were accompanied by Pashtun, Sindhi, Baloch and Bangladeshi activists. President of the organisation, Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, stated that people under PoK have been protesting for a long time. “Jammu and Kashmir was a historic nation that was sharply divided by Pakistan “Kashmir said.

“Pakistan-occupied Kashmir… there is a huge infrastructure set up by Pakistani intelligence agencies and everywhere they move freely and harass people. “Therefore, we are asking the world community and the United Nations to watch Pakistan exploiting its natural resources… The climate is being severely affected and the environment is being severely affected due to Pakistan’s policies,” Kashmiri added. .

Activists are protesting for Pakistan to reduce its influence in the PoK and Gilgit-Balistan regions. These areas have witnessed widespread human rights violations, abuse of laws, high inflation, poverty and unemployment.
