We were just trying to copy a great pose from a great man: MS Dhoni posing as Rajinikanth in the photo.

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni was recently asked at an event about a photo in which he struck a similar pose to superstar Rajinikanth, to which Captain Cool said he was just trying to “copy a big pose of a great man”.

“That’s a lovely picture by the way. You look really impressive. You look super impressive in this photo. Comparing these two images, where did you look for inspiration? was the question that was put to Dhoni.

“There is no comparison. We were just trying to copy a great pose from a great man. Nothing beyond that. Very difficult to think like him or do things like him. But at least we can copy the pose,” said Dhoni.

Dhoni’s CSK rallied at the last moment to pull off an eight-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.

Devon Conway closed 83 of 45 deliveries while Shivam Dubey shot to a 27-ball 52 as CSK posted an imposing 226/6 after being asked to bat first. In response, RCB finished at 218/8.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis (62 of 33 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (76 for 36) scared CSK into the fold, sharing 126 runs for the third wicket to raise hopes of a famous win.

Speaking after the match, CSK captain MS Dhoni said: “When you come to Bangalore, it is a good ground. The first part of IPL gets a lot of spray. You want to start off right and then alter whatever is on your mind. It was a bit sticky at first. It’s important to go through that and then look to accelerate. We kept it simple and tried to do as much as possible in the second half of the innings.”
