Windows will be streak-free with £1.40 tip that cleaning experts swear by

As the days grow longer, Brits are enjoying the extra sunlight streaming through the windows and brightening up their homes. However, while they welcome the sunshine, it also highlights something less pleasant—streaky, grimy windows that can be a hassle to clean.

A Go Compare survey revealed that window cleaning ranks among the most disliked household chores, even more unpopular than cleaning the bathroom or washing the car. Nigel Bearman, expert cleaner at Daily Poppins, shared a simple solution that is natural, and costs only £1.40 for the full bottle. The solution can be used around the house to clean other glass surfaces, mirrors, and even kitchen appliances. It’s also a great natural option for polishing stainless steel or removing hard water stains from shower doors, the expert shared.

According to Mr Bearman, using apple cider vinegar to clean the windows will give wonderful results. He said: “It has a much milder scent compared to regular vinegar, making it far more pleasant to use.

“It’s also incredibly effective at cutting through grime and leaving your windows streak-free, without the harsh chemicals in commercial cleaners.”

Due to its acidity, the solution is great at breaking down dirt and grime without the harshness of commercial products. The experts added that its mild, pleasant scent means you won’t have to deal with the overpowering smell that vinegar can leave behind.

Mr Bearman has also shared a bonus tip if you are dealing with very stubborn spots. He added: “Add a tablespoon of vinegar to your apple cider vinegar and water solution; this will help cut through tough grease and grime more effectively. For a spotless finish, follow up your clean with a quick wipe using a dry microfibre cloth to give the windows that extra gleam. “

Mix a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

Spray the solution lightly on your windows

Wipe it down using a microfibre cloth using a circular motion to remove the streaks

Finish by going over the glass in a vertical or horizontal motion to remove streaks

For stubborn spots, apply a bit more vinegar to break down the grime more effectively
