A woman aged 23 has been charged with the murder of a 51-year-old family member in the NSW town of Maitland.
Police were called to home at Ronald Street, Tenambit in the NSW Hunter region at 7.20pm yesterday.
Police and paramedics tried to save the man, who had been stabbed in the torso, but he died.
“The 51-year-old man and 23-year-old woman are family members and the incident is being treated as a domestic violence murder,” NSW Police Detective Acting Inspector Ranald Urquhart, said.
The 23-year-old woman was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Bail Court today.
The woman was not at the house when police arrived but she arrived a short time later and was arrested, they said.
She was later charged with murder.
NSW Police said investigations are continuing.
