ISLAMABAD:
A woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint in Islamabad’s F-9 park on Sunday, said police.
The woman and a colleague were at the park when two armed suspects took them hostage and moved them to a forested area of the park.
The victim stated that the accused continued to assault her and beat her colleague. The two men then allegedly sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she reported the crime.
A first information report (FIR) of the incident was registered at the capital’s Margalla police station. The spokesperson of Islamabad Capital Police said that a special unit is investigating the incident.

In a series of tweets, ICT’s official Twitter account stated that the investigation is being supervised by CPO Operations Sohail Zafar Chatta and people present in the park at the time of the incident as well as the park’s administration are being questioned.

ICT spokesperson furthered that evidence is being collected based on CCTV cameras and local intelligence, adding that the real culprits will be arrested soon and brought to justice.
The woman was examined at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital and samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory.
In another incident, a private bus company guard allegedly raped an 18-year-old hostess in a moving bus at gunpoint a day earlier. The victim girl was shifted to DHQ Hospital Vehari in critical condition, while police registered a case and arrested the accused. Social organizations and women staged a protest against the incident.
