Wordle #351 Answer: Hints to solve Sunday, June 5 word puzzle

Wordle brainteasers can prove tricky to veteran players and newcomers alike, which is why Newsweek is on hand to provide some hints for those who want a little bit of help.

The word puzzle has attracted millions of regular players who use its color-coded system to work out the answer within six attempts.

In Wordle green tiles are used to show the player the letter is right and in the correct place, while yellow tiles indicate the letter is correct but in the wrong place and a gray tile means the letter is not in the word at all.

Fortunately, the word puzzle resets every day so if players are stumped then all they need to do is wait a while for another game to become available.

Creator Josh Wardle created Wordle available for the public to play in October 2021 after he worked on a game for him and his partner to enjoy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the game launched it only had some 90 active players, but it quickly grew to have an average daily player base of some 45 million users.

The puzzle game went on to become so popular that The New York Times Company purchased it for an undisclosed seven-figure sum back in January. Wordle then moved over to the publication’s website in February.

Wordle’s simple gameplay could explain its meteoric rise in only a matter of months and its incredible growth can be seen in the following Statista graphic.
